We also recently started giving him drops made from his own blood. The goal of the drops is promoting healing and rejuvenating the eyes. Same concept as storm cells. His eyes do appear much healthier since we started the drops 1.5 weeks ago. Obtaining the drops is another challenge. His blood has to be drawn a proctor hospital in peoria because they are the only ones contracted with the special pharmacy that makes the drops. Since CHOI is a great kids hospital right up the road, their lab doesn't get many kids. Our first blood draw they had to call in the ER staff because they couldn't get it in the lab. Once the blood is drawn we have to wait until the next Wed for the process to be complete and then drive back to Peoria and pick them up.... And as you can imagine they are expensive and insurance doesn't cover them.
They wAnted to do his eye surgery ASAP so his ear tubes are pushed back until 2/26. Next week we are headed to Chicago for a long over due eye and dentist appointment. We are hoping UIC agrees with Peoria's eye care plan. February will be busy with all the preop and follow appointments that go with these surgeries.
Prayers we can keep little man healthy to actually have the procedures! Sammie is fighting a nasty cold as of today so that is never a good sign :(.
