8/4 - Well At Least It Was a Short Visit

Yesterday morning started with a 3:30am wakeup call from our night nurse. Leo was struggling a little bit keeping his stats up so she called us to come check him out. We were very frustrated that some basic steps weren't taken to assess Leo by the night nurse but anyway, after a breathing treatment and some steps to cool him off he was doing much better by 5am.

Throughout the morning Leo was doing good, showing a little illness but rather happy and going about his normal routine. However, late morning he started to get a high fever that we couldn't control, even after Tylenol and starting antibiotics. After a call to his doctor and different things to get his temp down, we decided it was best to take Leo to the ER in Peoria to get checked out. Poor guy had to get an IV in his shoulder which is the first time he has ever had to get one in the spot.

Unfortunately Leo got admitted last night for observation even though his fever broke while he was in the ER. Kate did a great job convincing the docs not to stay for another night waiting for test results to come back so Leo will get to come home today, less than 24 hours from when he was admitted. That might be a new record for Leo.

Besides this incident, Leo has been doing really well. Leo even managed to stay out of the hospital while Sammie and I went to Kentucky Lake a couple of weeks ago. Another first for Leo, usually Leo ends up in the hospital when Kate or I travel more than a few hours from home. Guess the hospital visit was just delayed for a couple weeks. Below are some Sammie pics from our trip.

Fishing was only fun for the first minute. Boredom sunk in after that :)

  1. These two great parents are also Leo's best nurses- and they are always "on call"! May The Dear Lord keep them all safe...G-Ma
