11/16 - Healing Up

Leo's hearing continues to be a battle. On Wed our nurse Katie and I packed Leo up and took him to Champain for another hearing test. We were immediately disappointed to learn his right ear us filled with fluid and she did not recommend doing the test. At his appointment in September no fluid was found. She thinks it is due to the cold. She said its common but takes 6 weeks to resolve! So now we are praying for hearing for Christmas instead of his birthday. We also have to be on the lookout for infections because they are common with fluid.

We also visited the eye doctor in Peoria twice this week. We headed there Wednesday after hearing because he woke up with his good eye crusted shut. Luckily no infection, he just needs drops in both eyes hourly now and a humidifier. His room is now like a Rain Forrest. We are trying some new drops made from the red hangy thing on roosters... Literally that us how the doc described it LOL. They are about $4 per day so hope they are good! Friday we were back for a recheck on Leo and a 1st time check for Sammie. Leo is looking better but still lots of healing needed. Sammie failed her preschool vision test so hers was a follow up. We figured she was just tricking the school nurse and she was.... Excellent vision for her :). Then at 2:00 Leo had a routine neurology appointment. It was pretty pointless because out neurologist left the hospital. We hate this because we really liked her and there is no replacement in the near future. We see an APN for now. We also had a heart stopping moment when our nurse asked if we saw Leo's infant trainer mouth piece...couldn't find it in the car. So we headed back to the eye doc. There it was in the parking lot run over!! But still in one piece! We cleaned it with alcohol, soap and water and it was good as new ...we got lucky!
