The eye doc stopped by around 11:00 on Friday. He said Leo's eye had an abrasion with a severe infection. He is getting eye drops every 1/2 hours to kill the bacteria. The antibiotics were made especially for Leo and not something a normal pharmacy would carry. He gave the impression that long-term his eye should heal, but it will take awhile. Then he talked about doing surgery to partially sew his eye shut so it doesn't happen again....well slow down buddy. We will put that out of our mind for now. We are going to Peoria to follow-up on Monday.
Leo is breathing better. He just has a cold with a cough and snotty nose. They want him on the vent 24/7 until at least Monday.
We were ready to go home Friday after the eye appointment but didn't pull in until after 6:00 because getting the paperwork took forever! We almost miss Halloween with Sammie but made it for the very end.
Thanks for all the prayers and a big thanks to Mom for doing all the little things we missed out on with Sammie....well and the big things too!
Leo really was a lion today!
Samantha was really into this Halloween scene! She decorated, organized all the candy, and could hardly play for asking me "when is five o'clock coming". I think that she had as much fun handing out the candy at home as she did getting to trick-or-treat. What shocked us all is when she asked if she could have a treat before eating her Halloween supper Friday night is that with all of the chocolate & sweets, she chose a box of raisins! Her best treat is that Mom, Dad, & Leo got back from the hospital to enjoy the rest of the evening with her...GrdMa Helen
ReplyDeleteWow guys. Loads of events and emotions with all of these decisions and worries. I'm so glad you two are a good team. Keep leaning on and supporting one another as best you can. Leo and sammie are better for it. And such a cute lion (and Rambo) he is!! I'm glad he's home and look forward to hearing all about his birthday :-)
