The alarm Terry mentioned regarding Leo's heart is indicative of a heart attack in an adult. Leo was not having a heart attack, but his heart was irritated due to his PICC line being pushed into his heart. This time his line was in 2.5 cm too far. In the past they said his heart was being "tickled" by his PICC line when it was 2 cm too far in. This time it was more than a tickle. They have a team of really good nurses who specialize in PICC line care. They are now the only ones allowed to change Leo's dressings because this was the 4th time his picc line went in too far during a dressing change. So overall great news this is not another long-term issue, but irritating it could have been prevented.
We made good progress on nursing today. They have hired two full time day nurses for us and both seem great (per the agency). Next Tuesday they are interviewing one of the people we recruited and sent to the agency who wants to be full time nights. If these 3 work out we should be good with our 5/13 date :).

ReplyDeleteGrateful for these updates and for a discharge date! Praying it happens as planned and the nurses win over Leo's heart - because we all know their hearts will be won over by Leo immediately.
