5/26 - Settling In

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. No news has been good news. Both our nurses seem to care about Leo and are gaining a better understanding of his needs. It is still odd to have strangers in our home, but we need them. We didn't have night nursing on Thursaday or Friday night and 3-4 hours of sleep just isn't enough. Last night was the first time I slept in bed instead of on the couch by Leo's room. I still had a baby monitor so the nurse could easily wake us. The biggest challenge we are having with Leo is controlling his body temp. He keeps getting 100-101 fevers and they make his heart race and monitor beep. He usually goes back down to 98 once he cools off. The helmet is not helping with the heat. On Wednesdsy we went back to the helmet doc and she cut a large section of the top out to allow air in. It has helped cool him off but now it seems too big. He has definitely not been wearing it 23 hours per day. We have several appointments this week so we are hoping he doesn't overheat in the car.

Sammie has been very busy playing at the park, potty training, growing strawberries and learning to pedal.
