3/18 - More Details
We received lots of questions today about blood clots and blood thinner so I thought I would explain more. When Leo was first admitted to the hospital over 6 weeks ago he had a vein blood clot in the left leg and an artry blood clot in the right leg. The left leg resolved in the first week, but the right leg still showed signs of blockage per an ultrasound. The hematologist said we needed to treat the remaining clot with 6 weeks of lovenox. Leo has been getting two shots per day in his thighs. Once a week they test his blood to ensure it is the correct thinness. About two weeks ago it was not at the correct level so they adjusted it. Earlier this week it was again off. Like Terry said since the ultrasound no longer showed a clot, we don't have to worry about the medicine any longer. No more shots! This is Leo's thigh from shots.

Look at his poor little legs! So glad the shots are done!
