11/11 (Monday) Leo's Arrival

My due date was 11/15/13, which was a Friday.  Our doctor preferred he not be born on a Friday so close to the weekend so the best docs would be available just in case they were needed. He said how about Monday, 11/11/13 at 8:00am, we said sure, but found out on Friday my cervix was not ready and I was only about 1cm dilated. We have to go in Sunday night at 6:00 instead. After a very tearful good-bye to Sammie (for me not her!) we were on our way and feeling lots of comfort that my mom was staying with her.  We got settled in to our room and hooked me up to a monitor and found I was having contractions on my own 1-5 min apart. They were not hurting me so no one seemed too interested. I got a 12 hour dose of cervidel hoping it would get my cervix ready for about 8 hours of labor with pitocin. The first round didn't work at all so around 11am they started another round. Around 4:30 my painless contractions started hurting but no one seemed too interested because they looked the same on the monitor. About 7:30 my water broke and it was game time. They checked me and I was only at a 4 so still along way to go....so I thought.  Leo David Trost was born at 8:39pm. No time for pain meds and he would have come sooner if the doctor was there. Leo is named after his Great Grandpa Leo Dougherty who played a key role in Terry's life as a kid. He is also named after his Great Uncle David Ahne who stepped up to be a father figure for Terry. Finally our little Leo is named after his Uncle David Marlow who is there for our family on a daily basis. We hope his meaningful name will bring him extra strength to overcome what ever lies ahead.
