11/18 (week two) - mystery fluid

Happy one week birthday! Last night turned out to be a little more exciting than we had hoped. Around 10:30 Terry noticed Leo got really agitated which is weird because he is normally a pretty calm guy. His body tempeture sensor was not stuck down all the was and his incubator was trying to bake him! We took his temp and it was only 99 so he was fine, just mad. We think he shook up the extra fluid in his chest and a large amount of yellow liquid started oozing out of the surgical site. They called the nurse practioner and she ordered extra meds to calm him down. She called the on duty surgeon and he was not too concerned and had the NNP change his wound dressing. Early in the morning our surgeon was back and he looked at the fluid and said it is definitely not chylothorax disorder they thought from yesterday because that fluid is creamy white. So Leo is back on breast milk. Throughout the day all the other doctors we saw agreed. They have continued to turn down his vent settings all day and he has done pretty well. They are talking about maybe tomorrow taking him off the vent! To me it seems a little soon since he still has mystery fluid around his lungs and the right one is partially collapsed.  He had an ultra sound today to confirm all that. We will see what the night and tomorrow brings....

Leo was still feeling the effects of last nights pain meds all day so he was not interactive. Looks like he is chillin on the beach. We will throw in a pic of Sammie from her visit to Peoria on Saturday. She enjoys the free ride at bass pro.
