11/12 (Tuesday) - Trying To Make Sense of Everything

With Leo's airway having a connection to his tummy there was an immediate need for surgery to stop that link to prevent debris from getting in his lungs and air getting to other areas. His first full day of life was filled with tests.  He had every part of his body looked at through x-ray and ultrasound. Luckily nothing else unexpected was found. He was assigned a team of doctors including a neonatologist who oversees all aspects of care and a surgeon to repair his TE fistula.  He was scheduled to be our doctor's 6th surgery on Wednesday.  The surgeon said he has performed the TE fistula repair about 4-6 times per year, total of 40 times in his career.
