I would like to start out by sharing some background on our little Leo. At our 20 week ultra sound some things weren't quite measuring quite right for our normal OBGYN in Bloomington so she sent us to a specialist in Peoria. There we learned our little boy had scoliosis and a 2 vessel umbilical cord instead of the normal 3 vessel cord. The scoliosis is curvature of the spine, but they assured us it could be corrected and they would not know the severity until he was born. The 2 vessel umbilical cord can lead to the baby not getting enough nutrition and being born premature. About 10% of babies with the 2 vessel code also have other complications. The doctors monitored our baby very closely and said he should be born at Peoria's Children's hospital just in case other complications were present at birth. They also didn't want us going past my due date or driving all the way to Peoria in labor. During the whole pregnancy his movement and predicated birth weigh were great. Next comes his birth story....
